Please welcome our latest author in the spotlight, Roxy!
What's your name and where do you come from?
I'm Roxy Wilson from one of the many picturesque islands of the English-speaking Caribbean.
Tell us a bit about your latest release.
He's So Into You is my debut novella, which was published by Secret Cravings Publishing. It's a story about how two people, though overwhelmed by their circumstances, find the seeds of hope of a new beginning with each other.
What's your biggest turn on?
A man's broad shoulders, better to wrap me with, my dear… lol
If you couldn't be an author, what would your ideal career be?
A motivational speaker. I quite like the idea of inspiring others.
Do you have a favourite character from your books? Why are they your favourite?
That's an easy one. He's So Into You is my first book, so Raina is definitely my favourite character. That's probably because she's bits and pieces of me. She's a plus size woman, who has struggled for years (and still struggles I might add) with her weight. She has body image issues. She has sister locks. She's of African descent. She quotes poetry at odd times. The only ways in which we differ is the fact that she has an abusive ex and she goes out on a blind date.
What's the most romantic thing anyone has ever done for you?
My husband planned a surprise trip to St. Lucia for my *coughs* birthday. He whisked me away from my workplace and straight to the airport. It was only then I knew where our destination was going to be. We stayed at the same hotel and in the same suite like we did on our honeymoon a few years before. Our weekend was perfect bliss. ;)
What's your greatest weakness?
The Internet. If my husband doesn't pull me away from it, I can stay online for hours. Seriously!
What trait do you find the sexiest?
A sense of humor. I love a man who can make me toss my head back and laugh unashamedly.
What do you do when you're not writing?
Perhaps reading, which I think is the flip side of writing. Sometimes I might just listen to some calypso, reggae or any other genre of music that tickles my fancy at the time. Or I might be spending some quality time with my family, or simply surfing the Internet.
Tell us something that might surprise our readers.
This may sound spooky, as well, but the number 7 pervades every aspect of my life. For instance, my dad was born on 7th March, my mom on 17th May, my sister and brother on 27th and 17th January respectively, and I on 17th September. I was married on 27th December, 1997. On our honeymoon in St. Lucia, my husband and I stayed in Suite #207. My first and second vehicles had license plate # 17 and # 7221 respectively. At present, my address begins with #7 and each of my phones has the number 7 in it. Hmmm…. Perhaps, it's evidence that I'm truly a lucky lady.
